2015 State of Origin Game 3 Teams Announced

July 1st, 2015

The State of Origin Game 3 teams for both Queensland and New South Wales have been selected, and the sides will meet in what is sure to be a bitter, hard-fought contest at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday, July 8th at 8:00pm.

The Maroons have been forced to make wholesale changes to the team which slipped to an 18-26 loss at the MCG in Game 2, while the Blues have held firm with their winning squad; for the time being.

New South Wales

Coach Laurie Daley made only two chances to his side which lost by a solitary point to the Maroons in Game 1, and was rewarded for the decisions when he side posted an impressive win in Game 2.

Daley and the Blues selection panel have stayed true to the big, physical and mobile squad from Game 2 and have confirmed the same list of players from 1-17.

Hooker Robbie Farah fractured his hand in club side Wests Tigers’ loss to the Panthers over the weekend and may still be removed from the squad, with Cronulla’s Mick Ennis and St George’s Mitch Rein considered the leading contenders to replace the key forward.

Queensland

Having started their 2015 State of Origin campaign in the best way possible when posting a nail-biting one point win in Game 1, the Maroons were unable to repeat the dose and withstand the a big Blues side; allowing New South Wales to square the ledger.

Fullback Billy Slater elected to go under the knife for season-ending surgery following Game 2, which has led to a notable player shuffle in the Queensland backline.

Greg Inglis will move into the number 1 jersey, while Will Chambers moves into the centres and Dane Gagai makes his debut on the wing.

Much to the delight of the Queensland faithful, Cooper Cronk makes a return from injury and makes a straight swap with Manly’s Daly Cherry-Evans, who has been left out of the Game 3 squad.

Brisbane hard man Josh McGuire suffered a season-ending Achilles injury at club level last weekend and has been replaced on the Maroons’ bench by Josh Papalii.
